The artist Barbara Trapp was born in Leipzig and received her design degree from the Art and Design university (Burg Giebichenstein).
She then worked in a scientific capacity at the GDR fashion institute in Berlin and afterwards was a scientific-artistic employee at the Berlin arts university. She has worked as a freelancer since 1987.

She works almost exclusively with watercolours/mixing techniques in her paintings. Sometimes she superimposes many layers of paint, acquiring in this way an unusually deep colourfulness and unusual structures.

Her works have been in many exhibits particularly in Baden but can also be seen in Pfalz in Jockrim and in Berlin.
